About Us

The name, not a real word, is a mash up of Artful (this meaning "showing creative skill or taste") and -ium ( a suffix used to coin element names). Put them together and you get the element of Skillful or Tasteful.
To be different is what I set out to be, although to be honest, what's so different about having an online shop? I make things by hand, sure I may use computers for design work and machines for creating products but they are put together totally by hand. Handmade being the element that sadly appears to be disappearing all so quickly in this day & age.
I started making sea glass jewellery as a hobby, simple wire twisting and using sea glass sourced from my local area. I created necklaces & earrings and sold successfully both online and offline for a while. The pandemic caused me to have a hiatus and I found myself back into a full time occupation where my time was limited. I now have more time and so have resurrected the shop and I hope to rekindle my craftwork and create beautiful items once more. I'm currently working creating sea glass earrings, bottle art and now papercrafts in the form of gift tags.
